It had been about 5 weeks since my journey began, and already, there have been so many many improvements in my life. I knew I needed to start reading the Bible, and I knew it was going to take forever to actually start making some progress. Honestly, it took me about 2 months to finally get through the very first book of the Bible, Genesis.
I could come up with a lot of excuses for not reading my Bible more, the main issue being time management. I realize now that it is something you have to make time for. Genesis was honestly kind of a drag to get through, but I’m glad I did.
The book of Genesis lays out a lot of context for the rest of the Bible. A lot of places are brought in and named. It tells you why places were named their name, and also why some places are more important than others. Sure, there are quite a few chapters filled with mostly just names of people related to each other, but it also has some very important stories to tell.
It makes me more excited to dive deeper into the word after reading genesis. Most of the stories you hear repeatedly as a child are all told in the very first book of the Bible. The story of Adam and Eve, Noah’s Ark, Abraham, Issac, Jacob, and Joseph. Really makes you think about what else you are missing out on.
