Fireproof.

My wife, being a believer already, decided to take my newfound jump into faith as an opportunity to apply it to our relationship. She spent a lot of her free time praying and searching for different ways to help us. One day, she found a movie called “Fireproof,” and despite me telling her I’d had already seen it and was not interested in seeing it again, she pushed on and insisted that I take another look with her.

Eventually, I agreed in hopes that it would prove to be what she expected it to be. Needless to say, since I’m writing about it now, it has helped a lot in my journey into faith as well as understanding how submitting to God and Jesus will definitely help me become a more loving husband and father.

In summary, the movie “Fireproof” is an independent film about a man who is absorbed in the thoughts of almost any other man. Selfish and in need of feeling as though he does so much more and deserves his wife’s endless love and praise without giving much back to her only to find that his marriage is falling apart and his wife resentment towards him grows. Scared of losing his wife and being stuck alone, he reaches out to his family, and his father talks him into doing a “love dare.”

The film does a very good job showing how even without believing in the Bible that loving someone fully and selflessly can save your relationship and make your life better. Of course, it does encourage the teachings of the Bible throughout, but without being too forceful even for a Christian driven film. If you are like me and are beginning a dive into faith it will definitely help you understand that God wants you to be happy in your relationship and in it lies steps on how to love your significant other more than yourself and what rewards await for you in loving everyone selflessly.
